June 2024: My crush is in a relationship
I don’t even know where to start my June story. A whole lot happened, so much so that I changed my story title like 3 times this month before I decided to settle for this one.
Where do I start from like this? Decisions. Decisions. Decisions.
Okay, let me start with School-work-life balance. First of all, work-life balance is a myth, so School-work-life balance??? It can never exist. Whenever people ask me how I juggle school and work, I tell them it’s more like they are juggling me. This month, I genuinely thought I was going to lose my job. You guys, unemployment is scary 😭. My friend, Temidayo Musa, said, “So you are scared of being unemployed like this?” I didn’t even know when we both started laughing 😹. I had too many work tasks and deadlines. My boss complained about my work rate 😭, that was the first time. It was war. At a point, I was even scared of checking my phone, because what if they told me they didn’t want me anymore? Well, thank God it’s over, and I still have my job.
Back in January, I wrote about my new flatmates and how nice they seemed. Well, I was wrong about one of them. People are weird. One minute you’re being considerate of their feelings, and the next they think they can control you. What is the moral of the story? Stay wicked.
In January, I told you all about this new boy I liked a lot (you can read my January story here). By February, I had decided he was an amazing friend that I wanted to keep him as just a friend. Well, now it’s June, and guess what? My crush is in a relationship. It’s doing me like heartbreak. They look good together and I’m happy for them. Who am I kidding? I’m not happy at all. Just kidding. But really, I’m not because I was already planning the color code for our wedding and even asked my friend to pray for us because he’s the boy I want to marry. So what’s going to happen to my delulu now? It’s over, just like that? Or should I keep praying?
My school calendar was extended by two weeks, and honestly, it made me hate this school even more. I gained admission in 2018, and it’s 2024, but I’m still here studying a 4-year course. I know hate is a strong word, but if I could use a stronger one, I would. On the bright side, I am starting my final exams tomorrow, so Hallelujah! Now that undergrad is about to end, nobody should ask me what’s next after school o.
I had another physical speaking engagement in June, and I am really proud of myself. I was invited to speak about the role of mathematics in the course I am studying. As usual, I was scared, but did I do it well? Yes, I did. Once again, Esther Oluwaseyi, I am proud of you.
I completed 3 auditing/forensic auditing courses and 1 audit project this month. I even attended an audit conference. Is that enough for me to start calling myself an auditor? lol.
Oh, wait! It’s my medium anniversary!!! A year ago, I made my first post on Medium with less than 40 followers. In fact, all my followers at the time were from my contact list. Fast forward to 366 days later, and I’m almost at 600 active followers. Wow! It’s funny how my blog started as a conversation I had with people. I started with the name “Life’s Kaleidoscope” until January, when I decided to focus on personal stories. I’m glad I did, and I love how people let me know that my stories resonate with them and make them feel seen. I hope to keep up in the next year because I have a lot of stories to tell. Stay tuned. A big thank you to everyone who enjoys reading my posts and looks forward to my stories. Your support means the world to me.
July starts tomorrow, and I think I want a social media break till the end of the year. I deactivated my Instagram about a month ago and I’ve not gone back to it, I don’t think I want to. Maybe it’s time to add WhatsApp to the list because WhatsApp is where I really need a break from 😪.
That’s all I can remember from June. How was the month for you? Is it just me, or was June unnecessarily long? July starts tomorrow, meaning that Q3 starts tomorrow and also that the first half of the year has ended.
I wish you a fantastic July! May God continue to keep everyone safe ❤️.
